Creation |
In Geneses the Scripture says that God created everything that is from nothing. In the fabric of the creation God wove dependence and interdependence. Rain depends on the sun to evaporated water from the constantly filling reservoirs of water. Our earth depends on the mass of the sun and the invisible cords of gravity to keep it in an elliptical orbit preventing us from falling into the vastness of space.
An key thought is that man who was given responsibility to care for the earth and populate it is dependent upon every thing else God created. We, the final creation, cannot get along with out the rest of creation but the rest of creation is not dependent or interdependent upon us.
Faith, according to Hebrews 11, is
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
God is not the creation. Yet, by examining the creation we can see God's handiwork. See Grapefruit
I personally believe that the created order was 'designed" by the Designer, God. If I consider only the the body, I cannot conceive of all the interconnected body functions (eyes, digestive, reproductive, circulatory...) all by blind random chance coming together at the same time to produce the marvelous body that we have. If I then add the plants that I eat, and their amazing variety, how could the body plus the plants necessary for nourishment all progress uniformly by blind change to the same interconnected ?place?
I certainly do take the interconnectedness of the created order by faith. But, not blind faith. My faith is that there is more to discover and know, because The Designer, God, put it together that way. Similar to the garden, there was only one tree restricted while the whole rest of the creation was available to exploration and discovery.
